Frequently Asked Questions
Every question we hear most often before someone books an evaluation, answered in plain language. If yours isn't here, call us directly and we'll answer it before you book anything.
Everything patients ask before their first visit.
In Texas, no. Direct access lets you begin physical therapy without a physician referral for up to 30 days of treatment. Call any of our three San Antonio clinics and we will get you evaluated. If your plan or your condition needs a referral, we will tell you before your first visit, not after.
Almost certainly. We are in network with roughly 45 plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, TRICARE and USAA, plus about 24 workers compensation carriers. We verify your benefits before your first visit so you know your copay and your coverage in writing, and transparent self-pay rates are available if you prefer.
Most people notice a change within the first two to three weeks. A typical course of care is two to three visits a week for four to six weeks, and your therapist will tell you at your evaluation what to expect for your specific condition rather than giving you a generic timeline.
Your therapist takes your history, tests how you actually move, and finds what is driving the problem rather than treating the spot that hurts. You get hands-on treatment the same day, not just an assessment, and you leave with a home programme and a plan you understand. Bring any imaging, referrals or physician notes you have.
Loose, comfortable clothing you can move in. If we are treating a knee or a hip, shorts help. If it is a shoulder, a sleeveless top or a vest helps. Bring any brace, orthotic or supportive shoe you already use, plus paperwork from your doctor, including x-ray and ultrasound reports.
Between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on your condition and what the session involves. You are with your therapist, one on one, for that time. Your therapist will tell you what to expect for your plan of care at your first visit.
Most plans of care run two to three visits a week for four to six weeks. Some conditions need less, some need longer, and your therapist sets the frequency at your evaluation based on your goals rather than a fixed package.
We offer transparent self-pay rates with no hidden fees. Copays and deductibles are due at the first visit unless other arrangements are made, and we bill your insurance first when you do use it. If your plan is not on our accepted list, call Margie at (210) 798-1040 and she will check whether we are in network with it.
Both help, and they do different jobs. Chiropractic care centres on joint adjustment. Physical therapy adds the strength, mobility and movement retraining that keep the change in place, so the problem is less likely to come back once treatment ends. We use spinal manipulation too, as one tool inside a broader plan rather than as the plan itself.
Yes, and they are chosen for you rather than printed off a sheet. The work you do between visits is where most of the progress happens. Your therapist will show you each exercise, watch you perform it, and adjust it as you get stronger. If something hurts or does not make sense, tell us and we will change it.
Often, yes. Long-standing pain usually means the original problem was never fully resolved and the body has been compensating around it ever since. That compensation is treatable. Chronic pain is one of the areas our team works in most, and the plan looks different from an acute injury: slower loading, more education, and a longer runway.
Sometimes. For many rotator cuff tears, knee osteoarthritis and back conditions, a well-run course of physical therapy is a reasonable first step, and plenty of people do well enough that they choose not to operate. We will not promise you that outcome. What we will do is tell you honestly what we are seeing and refer you on when surgery is the right call.
Call the clinic nearest you, or use the request form on this page and we will call you back. Northeast is (210) 656-5848, North Central is (210) 490-4738 and Southeast is (210) 922-6292. You do not need a referral to book.
