Amber Hargens
You can be told a muscle is fine and still watch it refuse to fire. Amber Hargens works on exactly that gap. She is a licensed occupational therapy assistant who graduated from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and she is finishing her bachelors degree with the goal of moving on to a masters in occupational therapy. Her interests are orthopedics, manual techniques and the NEUBIE, which she uses to promote neuromuscular re-education across a range of diagnoses. Alongside outpatient therapy she has worked in skilled nursing facilities and inpatient rehabilitation, and hand therapy remains her passion.
What guides the work.
The work Amber is drawn to is hands-on and specific: orthopedic rehabilitation, manual techniques, and neuromuscular re-education that teaches a muscle to switch back on instead of waiting for it to. Hand therapy is where she wants to spend her career, and she is still building her training toward it. What that gives you in a session is a therapy assistant who is genuinely curious about your particular problem rather than reaching for a standard protocol.
Life beyond the treatment table.
When she is not in the office, you will usually find Amber at the movies or out at one of the local San Antonio festivals.
